Fuel starvation
- P.M.Green Me109s used during the Battle of Britain were powered by a Daimler-Benz DB601 which was fuel injected. The Me109 could enter a power dive without the engine missing a beat. The pilot of a Hurricane or Spitfire in pursuit, before diving, would have to half roll to avoid the negative g interrupting the flow of fuel and once in the dive would have to half roll again to correct his attitude, the initial hesitation and extra manoeuvre took time.
